Popular Gengetone artist Shalkido, also known as Kevin Mburu Kinyanjui, has died at the age of 28 from head injuries following a motorbike accident on Sunday, October 5. He was pronounced brain dead by doctors at Kenyatta University Teaching, Referral and Research Hospital (KUTRRH) after being admitted in critical condition.

• Shalkido was reportedly involved in a hit-and-run accident on Thika Road and was rushed to a health facility with severe head injuries and a broken leg.
• The motorbike involved in the accident was gifted to Shalkido just a month prior by media personality Eric Omondi through his Sisi kwa Sisi initiative, intended for a boda boda business.
• Tributes poured in from the entertainment industry, including former bandmate Peter Miracle Baby, comedian Terence, host Oga Obinna, and musician Bahati, with many expressing shock and sorrow.
