The Director of Public Prosecutions (DPP) has approved bribery charges against Josephat Kabeabea, the Chairperson of the Anti-Counterfeit Authority (ACA), following an investigation by the Ethics and Anti-Corruption Commission (EACC). Kabeabea is accused of soliciting bribes to interfere with ongoing investigations into businesses.

• Kabeabea allegedly demanded a Sh5 million bribe from a Chinese national trading as Hongda Automotive Limited and received Sh150,000.
• The charges stem from an EACC investigation where Kabeabea is accused of using his position at ACA to threaten companies with accusations of selling counterfeit goods.
• The complaint links to an earlier incident in October 2025 where Kabeabea purportedly demanded Sh10 million from UNIPRO Limited and received Sh8 million.
