The Ministry of Health has warned Kenyans against prolonged tree hugging without a medical checkup, following a growing trend inspired by Truphena Muthoni's 72-hour challenge on December 11 last year.

• Health Principal Secretary Mary Muthoni stated on Thursday, January 15, that the challenge is strenuous and has led to several participants collapsing and being hospitalized.
• The practice has gained momentum for various reasons, including raising awareness for cancer and environmental issues, with instances reported in Limuru, Kiambu County, and Meru.
• A young woman in Western Kenya was rushed to Bugoma Hospital after completing a 74-hour tree-hugging challenge.
