Divisions within Kenya's Orange Democratic Movement (ODM) are deepening as a faction led by Siaya Governor James Orengo launched a grassroots campaign in Busia County against cooperating with the ruling United Democratic Alliance (UDA) party.

• Orengo stated that ODM must field its own presidential candidate in 2027 and rejected any political mergers or power-sharing with UDA.
• The faction, operating under the Linda Mwananchi banner, held its first public meeting on Sunday, February 8, demanding the party chart an independent path.
• Orengo accused unnamed individuals within ODM, supporting a broad-based government, of attempting to "auction" the party for personal gain and urged supporters to reject such leaders.
