After a near-death encounter with a mob, Dennis Munyoki, a 20-year-old former gang member from Ziwa la Ngombe, Nyali, Mombasa County, has chosen to abandon his criminal past and return to school. This decision came after intervention from well-wishers and security agencies who were pursuing him.

• Dennis had been involved in crimes for the past three years since dropping out of school at Form 3.
• Well-wishers Josephine Mwikali and Abdulswamad Ali provided counseling after discovering security agencies were after him.
• Chief Bernard Omolo of Maweni confirmed Dennis was a known gang member, previously arrested for stealing a phone.
• A school, after much persuasion, accepted Dennis Munyoki back under close supervision to complete his KCSE by year-end.
