Doctors in Embu County have finally received their long-awaited promotions, marking an end to years of career stagnation. This significant development was announced by the Kenya Medical Practitioners, Pharmacists and Dentists Union (KMPDU).

Over 80 percent of doctors in Embu have been promoted across three batches.
The promotions involved 19 consultants and ensured all doctors' contracts were converted to Permanent and Pensionable status.
Key figures include KMPDU Secretary General Dr. Davji Atellah and National Deputy Secretary General Dr. Dennis Miskellah, who was reinstated and promoted after a prior termination during a strike.
The success is attributed to the doctors' solidarity and consistent advocacy, including industrial actions, with the most recent in December 2025.
