An 81-kilometre section of the Rironi–Gilgil road is slated for completion by mid-2026, with the broader Rironi–Naivasha–Gilgil (A8) and Rironi–Maai Mahiu–Naivasha (A8 South) routes expected to be fully operational by April 2027.

• The overall Mau Summit highway expansion project is valued at approximately Ksh170 billion and will be implemented under a Public-Private Partnership (PPP) model.
• Interior Principal Secretary Raymond Omollo provided the update, highlighting the project's significance overseen by the Kenya National Highways Authority (KeNHA).
• The upgrade aims to enhance road safety, reduce travel times, stimulate regional economic growth, particularly in agriculture, and streamline cargo movement to neighboring countries.
