Kenya Railways announced plans to reopen the Gilgil-Nyahururu railway line by June, aiming to boost connectivity and freight efficiency in the Rift Valley region.

• The 78-kilometre line is expected to resume operations within weeks, facilitating cement trains and clinker shipments.
• Key players include Kenya Railways Corporation (KRC), Bamburi Group, and the Nyandarua and Nakuru county governments.
• The line, disused since the late 1970s/early 1980s due to the collapse of the East African Railways Corporation (EARC), has undergone rehabilitation since August 2020.
