Jomo Kenyatta International Airport (JKIA) experienced a notable decrease in passenger traffic in March 2026, according to a report by the Kenya National Bureau of Statistics (KNBS).

• International visitor arrivals at JKIA dropped by 17,900 travellers from February to March 2026.
• The decline occurred as the government prepares for major upgrade works at JKIA, including new facilities and a runway, funded by the National Infrastructure Fund (NIF).
• In contrast, rail transport and cargo activity at the Port of Mombasa showed growth during the same period.
