The Kenya Universities and Colleges Central Placement Service (KUCCPS) has implemented a new set of criteria for university admissions, first used for the 2025 KCSE candidates.

• The new framework was developed through consultations with universities and professional regulatory bodies and aims to reduce entry barriers and expand career pathways.
• KUCCPS Board Chairman Cyrus Gituai announced the revised criteria, which were used for the first time in this placement cycle.
• For competitive programs like medicine, admission is based on a "cluster weight" derived from specific KCSE subjects (Mathematics, Chemistry, Biology, and a language), not solely on the overall mean grade.
