Two women were apprehended at Jomo Kenyatta International Airport (JKIA) on September 4, 2026, by detectives from the Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI) with approximately 658 grams of suspected gold concealed on their bodies.

• The confiscated gold, comprising a 541-gram bar and a 116.79-gram pellet, was discovered hidden in the suspects' hair and bra respectively.
• The DCI, in collaboration with a multi-agency team, intercepted the women as they prepared to board an Emirates flight to Dubai.
• The arrests are part of an intensified effort to combat the illegal extraction and smuggling of precious minerals through Kenya.
