Prince Edward Rukidi Kijanangoma Nyabongo II, a former journalist, is set to be crowned king of Uganda’s Tooro kingdom, following a succession dispute.

• The new king, Kijanangoma, is a cousin to the late King Oyo Nyimba Kabamba Iguru Rukidi IV, who died last month at age 34.
• Queen Best Kemigisa, mother of the late king, contested the selection, stating King Oyo left a will naming his young son as successor.
• The Tooro kingdom succession committee, comprised of 21 Babiito clan members, ultimately selected Kijanangoma, a decision supported by the Ugandan government.
