Murang'a Kuppet members protest new CBA, cite meagre pay rise and unexplained deductions
Teachers Express Discontent Over 'Shocking' Salary Increment with KSh 500 Pay Rise - August 2025
Teachers in Kenya are expressing widespread discontent and strong grievances regarding a recent salary increment, describing it as 'shocking' and 'disappointing.' Despite an agreement reached between the Teachers Service Commission (TSC) and teacher unions just two weeks prior, many teachers received only a paltry KSh 500 increase in their July payslips. Members of the Kenya Union of Post Primary Education Teachers (KUPPET) in Murang'a County are protesting the newly signed Collective Bargaining Agreement (CBA), citing the negligible pay rise and unexplained deductions, demanding a review of the agreement.
