Officials Warn and Criticize Doctor and Hospital Practices - December 2025

Cabinet Secretary for Defence, Aden Duale, has accused hospitals in Kenya of coercing pregnant women into undergoing Caesarean sections unnecessarily as a ploy to defraud the Social Health Authority (SHA). CS Duale also issued a warning to public hospital doctors who refer patients to private hospitals, as part of efforts to improve healthcare services. Separately, Tharaka Nithi Governor Muthomi Njuki expressed concerns that some doctors working in multiple hospitals are negatively impacting service delivery in public health facilities.
