AMREF Plane Crash in Mwihoko, Kiambu County Results in Six Fatalities and Ongoing Investigation - August 2025

A tragic incident occurred in Mwihoko, Kiambu County, on August 7, 2025, when an AMREF plane crashed into a residential area, resulting in six fatalities and several injuries. The deceased include four occupants of the aircraft, which was identified as a Cessna. Following the crash, an investigation was immediately launched, and the black box from the ill-fated aircraft was recovered by security personnel. Ministry of Transport officials are expected to extract information from the black box to determine the cause of the crash. Kiambu Governor Kimani Wamatangi visited the crash site, extending condolences and pledging county support to the victims' families, while families of the six victims have begun the process of identifying their loved ones' bodies at the morgue.
