Various leaders are demanding the resignation of UDA Secretary General Hassan Omar following remarks he allegedly made towards the Mount Kenya community. Opposition leaders strongly criticized Omar for what they deemed as divisive remarks, calling for accountability regarding his public statements. George Kariuki, Chair of the Transport and Infrastructure Committee in the National Assembly, suggested Omar should consider stepping aside from his role. Members of Parliament from the Mount Kenya region rejected a proposed amnesty by Omar, arguing it is insufficient.
