Garissa County has agreed to transition 19 doctors from contract to permanent and pensionable terms upon contract expiry next year, following discussions between Governor Nathif Jama and the Kenya Medical Practitioners Pharmacists & Dentists Union (KMPDU).
- 20 doctors will be re-designated from Job Group M to Job Group Q by December 17th, 2025.
- The KMPDU Secretary-General, Davji Atellah, will visit Garissa later this month for follow-up on the agreements.
- Garissa County is currently recruiting 8 additional doctors within the current financial year.
