The Kenyan Ministry of Health, alongside partners like WADADIA-HABITAT, has launched a new initiative to combat obstetric fistula, a condition causing significant suffering and death among pregnant women.

• An estimated 3,000 Kenyan women die annually from fistula-related complications, often due to prolonged, obstructed labor and delayed healthcare.
• Key figures include Dr. Edward Serem (Head of RMNCAH), Habiba Mohamed (Founder of WADADIA-HABITAT), and Kilifi Governor Gideon Mung’aro.
• WADADIA-HABITAT is conducting free fistula surgeries and has developed a guide titled "Holistic Care and Treatment for Women with Childbirth and Other Pelvic Floor Injuries." The Kilifi County is also set to open a cancer center offering free cervical cancer vaccines.
