Kenyans will face higher electricity bills in June 2026 following new monthly adjustments announced by the Energy and Petroleum Regulatory Authority (EPRA). Consumers will pay an extra Ksh3.87 per unit.

The total additional cost per unit is Ksh3.87, comprising a fuel energy cost charge of Ksh3.14, a forex fluctuation charge of Ksh0.72, and a WRMA levy of Ksh0.0142.
The Energy and Petroleum Regulatory Authority (EPRA) is responsible for these adjustments.
These charges are partly due to Ksh779 million in foreign exchange losses absorbed by consumers, with independent power producers accounting for the largest share.
