Cherangany Member of Parliament Patrick Simiyu has officially joined the Linda Mwananchi movement and declared his support for Nairobi Senator Edwin Sifuna's presidential bid.

• Patrick Simiyu, a first-term MP, endorsed Edwin Sifuna, citing the movement's widespread support and benefit for Kenyans.
• The defection follows a significant blow to the Orange Democratic Movement (ODM) in Trans-Nzoia, where branch officials also moved to the People's Renaissance Movement, led by Saboti MP Caleb Amisi.
• These officials expressed disillusionment with ODM national leadership, claiming they have abandoned the political aspirations of the late party leader Raila Odinga and turned the party into a "business enterprise."
