IEBC Sets August 10, 2027 Election Date, February Resignation Deadline - August 2026
The Independent Electoral and Boundaries Commission (IEBC) has officially set the election calendar for the 2027 General Election, scheduled for Tuesday, August 10, 2027. The commission confirmed the polls will proceed using the existing electoral map of 290 constituencies and 1,450 wards, citing time constraints and legal challenges related to boundary reviews. Public officers intending to run for elective positions must resign from their posts by February 10, 2027. The IEBC is intensifying preparations with continuous voter registration currently at 2,936,516 Kenyans and aims to expand the voter register to approximately 28.5 million, while also doubling diaspora voting countries. The commission has officially set May 29, 2027, as the earliest date for presidential campaigns to begin.
