Following the incident, Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua demanded a swift and thorough investigation, urging agencies to uncover the facts surrounding Jirongo's demise. An autopsy has since revealed that Cyrus Jirongo died from blunt force trauma, which caused severe injuries to his chest.
