The Independent Electoral and Boundaries Commission has announced that the nationwide mass voter registration exercise will officially conclude tomorrow, Tuesday, with no extensions planned. Leaders of the UDA party have been urging the IEBC to extend the voter registration period, citing low registration rates among youth in Busia County. In Trans Nzoia, the IEBC official has strongly refuted allegations that non-residents are being registered as voters. Human rights activists in Mombasa are also urging the IEBC to intensify voter registration campaigns to increase the number of new voters. Church and community leaders in Kandara, Murang'a County, are similarly urging for an extension of the voter registration period.
