Police in Kenya have detained over 10 students from Utumishi Girls Academy following a deadly dormitory fire that tragically killed 16 learners and injured 79 others. A devastating fire at Utumishi Girls Academy has left seven out of 16 victims positively identified, with authorities struggling to identify the remaining bodies due to extreme burns. Authorities will utilize DNA analysis to identify the 16 students who tragically died in the fire. Police are investigating the incident as suspected arson. The Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI) is demanding the resignation of Cabinet Secretary Kipchumba Murkomen following the deadly fire. A mother whose daughter was injured in the Utumishi Academy fire tragedy died in a road accident while rushing to the school on the Gilgil-Nakuru highway.
