Police Remove Protesters from Court, Face Brutality Claims in Kitengela, and Arrest an Activist at Border - February 2026
Two activists were forcefully removed from Milimani Law Courts on February 16 after disrupting proceedings with a protest against alleged police brutality. According to claims by United Opposition leaders, a separate incident in Kitengela on February 15 resulted in two youths being killed and at least 50 injured after police allegedly used excessive force, including live fire and teargas, at a political function. In another event, activist Mwabili Mwagodi was arrested on February 15 at the Lunga Lunga border while attempting to travel to Tanzania. Mwagodi is detained at Lunga Lunga Police Station after being stopped due to a Red Notice on his passport, which was allegedly issued by a DCI Officer in early 2025.

These fraudulent schemes are circulating on social media. Meanwhile, a Nairobi family faces a two-month delay in burying a relative named Antony due to a fraud investigation. The investigation was launched after Antony allegedly used his brother's identity to access medical care at Mbagathi Hospital under the Social Health Authority (SHA), which has stalled the issuance of a correct death certificate.
